While recovering in the town, Ortega (or "Peredvizhnik" as they knew him) made friends with inhabitants, and Petya in particular. After he recovered, he left [[Ortega's Helm|his helmet]] with Petya as a token of his gratitude. In the years that followed, "Peredvizhnik" was fondly remembered by the town, and a song was written commemorating Petya's rescue of him. His helm was proudly displayed and polished to a sheen.
