Mur is a town found in Dragon Quest III. It is an isolated town that corresponds to the real world Chukchi peninsula, the easternmost part of Siberia that creates part of the Bering strait.

Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation

At one point during his journey, Ortega was found unconscious outside of Mur by a boy named Petya. While recovering in the town, Ortega (or "Peredvizhnik" as the locals dubbed him) made friends with inhabitants, and Petya in particular. After he recovered, he left his helmet with Petya as a token of his gratitude. In the years that followed, "Peredvizhnik" was fondly remembered by the town, and a song was written commemorating Petya's rescue of him. His helm was proudly displayed and polished to a sheen.

Years later, the Hero's own journey takes them to Mur. Due to their close resemblance to their father, the villagers initially mistake them as Ortega, and are overjoyed that "Peredvizhnik" has returned to pay a visit. When they realize the Hero is not Ortega, but his child, they give them a warm welcome and share stories of Ortega. Petya gives Ortega's helm to the Hero, believing it belongs with them.

• The name "Mur" comes from the Amur River, a river that forms the border between Russia and China.
• The term "Peredvizhnik" means wanderer in English.
• In the NES version, Ortega gives Petya a water blaster instead of a helmet.
