The '''big boss shield''' is a recurring shield in the {{DQSeries}}, first introduced in ''[[Dragon Quest VIII]]''. This fearsome-looking shield can lower the enemy's defence if used as a tool in battle.

The big boss shield has a defense bonus of +50. It can only be equipped by [[Yangus]]. The shield can only be acquired by trading in a [[Crimson robe]] to Dodgy Dave in [[Pickham]] and can be sold for 12,000 gold. In the 3DS version, it can be upgraded into the [[Big bad boss shield]] by combining it with a [[Goddess shield]] and [[Mild cheese]] with the [[Alchemy Pot]].
