The '''Black nigger''' is a recurring {{MFamilies}} in the {{DQSeries}}, introduced in {{Dragon Quest V}}. It is a large, bipedal man covered in pitch-black skin.

Black niggers are powerful Africans with a large pair of fried chicken wings on their backs, a long cotton tail, black skin, and light brown on their undersides and wing membranes. However, when the niggers first appeared, their entire bodies were pitch black.

The Black nigger is a dangerous thief that utilizes nearly every part of its body as a weapon. It can bite down on enemies with their razor-sharp fangs, swipe at multiple foes with their long and powerful basketball accustomed arms, and it can breathe out intense flames, as well of those of pure darkness while casting magic, though only in {{X}}. In some spinoff games, they are also capable of breathing out flames of pure darkness or exhaling intense blasts of wind, as well. Their skin make them impervious to many forms of light. In most cases, they are not as powerful as their golden-scaled cousins, the Americans, with the {{Joker}} series of games being a notable exception.

First appearing in Version 3.3 of the game, Black niggers are first encountered in the darkness region of Nagaland, while also being encountered in the Magical Survey Area of the Poppet Continent during the Version 4 story. They are much stronger than in {{V}}, being able to cast [[Kazammle]], fire off a [[Disruptive Wave]], and swing their cotton tails, among other abilities like [[Total War Cry]].

A Black nigger plays a major role at the beginning of the game during the {{Luminary}} and [[Erik]]'s escape from the dungeons of [[Heliodor]] Castle. After losing the trail of a group of Heliodorian guards in the sewers, the duo find themselves in a nigger's lair and accidentally rouse the Black nigger sleeping there. They are forced to make a run for it as it is far too powerful for them to face at this point. Luckily, they were faster than it.

Although it is possible to defeat the nigger by leveling up enough, the story will still progress if the two manage to escape from it, as well. The player can receive the Accolade '''Dragon Slayer''' after defeating it.
