The bomboulder (originally Revirock; Farewell Crag and GiveLife Rock in fan-translations) is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series. Introduced in Dragon Quest V, it is a reddish variant of a rockbomb and is known for casting Kerplunk.

Characteristics

The bomboulder is identical to a rockbomb, but being of a red or pink hue.

Usually stronger than rockbombs, at least in terms of stamina, bomboulders further differentiate themselves from their equally suicidal brethren by expending their lives to support their comrades instead of doing so in an attempt to wipe out the enemy. They achieve this with their knowledge of the spell Kerplunk, making them bothersome opponents when attempting to dispose of a large group of monsters.

In the DS remake of Dragon Quest V they are further distinguished in appearance by having a full grin, instead of the gapped teeth normally seen in rockbombs.
