The '''firebird''' is a recurring {{MFamilies}} in the {{DQSeries}}, first appearing in {{Dragon Quest V}}.

The firebird is a large {{Bird}} whose plumage is various shades of red, orange, and yellow. Most of its body is orange with a long red tail, a red head and neck, and golden feathers on its head and neck, as well as gold talons. In battle, it breathes out fiery breath of varying intensity to cook foes alive.  

Although the firebird made its debut in {{V}}, it would not make a return to the main series until {{X}} two decades later. It has made regular appearances in the {{Monsters S}} of games, as well as various other spinoffs along with its [[Snowbird|icy counterpart]]. In some games, it has been a member of the [[beast family]] while in other as a member of the [[nature family]].
