Flashback is a defensive technique that has the user assume a stance of seeming vulnerability to lure enemies into attacking, countering with tremendous damage.

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age[edit | edit source]
Flashback is Jade's secret skill for the spears section of her character builder. It costs 25 points to unlock and 10 MP to perform, dropping her defence to 1 while guaranteeing a counterattack against almost all physical blows for up to two turns. The reversal deals 150% damage, and the skill can also be used with claws in spite of being listed in the spears section.
