The Garboyle is a monster based on the unnamed demon that fought against Ortega over the volcanic crater of Mt. Necrogond in the opening cutscene of the SFC remake of Dragon Quest III. It has since been given its own name and personality in the HD-2D remake, promoting it to boss status and chief of Baramos' minions. Its name is a portmanteau of the words gargoyle and boil.
Appearances
Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake
Despite appearing after a prompt for the player to throw the Mountaincleaver away, the player will not actually lose the weapon until after Garboyle is defeated. As such, it is perfectly safe to have one of your party members use the weapon on Garbgoyle.
