The Locket of Love (LuvMemory) is a key item in Dragon Quest III. It is required to access the Shrine Jail in order to retrieve the Sword of Gaia. The locket is held in a treasure chest aboard the Phantom Ship. Retrieving it is part of the subquest to receive the Silver Orb.
Eric and Olivia
The locket belongs to Olivia who gave it to her lover Eric before he was sent on a sea voyage. Eric's death on the voyage resulted in Olivia killing herself on the heights of what is referred to as Olivia Cape. A curse remains on the strait near Olivia Cape leading to the Shrine Jail. The curse can only be counteracted by using the locket near the strait.
