Hyunckel was found as a baby in one of the villages that was attacked by the Dark Army and was raised by General Bartos as his adoptive son. Bartos was only allowed to do so since he was the strongest knight in the Dark Lord's army. He named the boy Hyunckel after a legendary swordsman who once ruled the Demon World. The boy was raised to be kindhearted by Bartos and he treated the other monsters as his family. Eventually, the hero Avan defeated Hadlar, causing the death of his adoptive father and many other monsters. Avan comes across the young man and decides to take him as the first of his Disciples, believing that he was a boy that had been kidnapped by the monsters. However, unbeknownst to him, Hyunckel was biding his time to seek revenge on Avan for his father's death. He devised the [[Bloody Scryde]] technique in secret and planned to use it against Avan on the day of his graduation as a Disciple.
