The leather suit is a simple breastplate made from tanned hides that is held on the wearer's body with belts. In Official Guide Book illustrations, it is worn over a set of plain clothes and includes both bracers and boots. Prior to the release of the smartphone version of ''Dragon Quest'', the suit was treated as one and the same as the [[leather armour]], although it had a different name in Japanese. In the ''Dragon Quest I HD-2D Remake'', they are considered separate items.
