The peckerel is a large teal bird with a long neck and a sharp beak.
Peckerels are tall flightless birds like ostriches or emus with dark teal plumage and serpentine heads. They have lighter teal undersides and a long thin tail ending in a sharp point. Their tails are coated with a toxin that they use to paralyse their victims and they can even instantly kill them with Assassin's Stab. In ''Dragon Quest X'', they have also gained the ability to spit out ink to blind their opponents. Their name is a play on the words "peck" and "cockerel".

The Peckerel is a monster in the series.

Characteristics
