Pegasus (Falchion in the fan translation) is a flying horse used for transportation in Dragon Quest VI. He is the fifth and final form of transportation and is required to reach Mortamor's demon world.

Relation to Peggy Sue

Peggy Sue is a wild horse found early in the game in the Phantom World. He is tamed by The Hero and Carver so that the wagon can be used. Much later in the game, a statue of Pegasus is found at the top of the Pillar of Pegasus. Peggy Sue merges with the statue to become Pegasus, the legendary flying horse.

Transport to the demon world

Pegasus is controlled by the Celestial Reins which are given after freeing him from his statue. While flying, the game uses the mode 6 graphic capabilities of the SNES. Pegasus also has the ability to fly directly to the demon world, and is the only method of reaching it.
