Chunks of platinum ore can be received as a reward for receiving first place in the Gold Cup of [[Gallopolis]]'s horse race or given for participating in the Platinum Cup. It can be purchased for 800 gold from the roving emporium in [[the Emerald Coast]] and the forge item shop in [[Hotto]] during the second act only, as well as the [[Havens Above]] during the postgame.
