The pot lid is a recurring shield in the Dragon Quest series. It is usually the first shield the player can obtain, and correspondingly provides the weakest defence. It usually can be equipped by every character and by those who cannot wield heavier shields.

Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation (Remakes only)

The pot lid has a defence bonus of +2 and can be equipped by any vocation. It can be purchased for 50 Gold coins in Aliahan and sold for 37.

Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride

The pot lid provides a defence bonus of +2 and can be purchased for 40 Gold Coins. Bianca, Nera, the Hero's Daughter, Harry, and Sancho can equip it. Certain monsters can equip it as well.
