Pterygotus is a monster in the Dragon Quest series. It is a stronger version of the armoured scorpion.
Characteristics[edit | edit source]
Red raging giant scorpions that sting and swipe adventurers with their massive barbed beastly tails. Despite the venom stashed in their stinging tails, they never actually poison or intoxicate their enemies, instead relying on sheer strength to win battles.

Etymology[edit | edit source]
Pterygotus is a genus of sea scorpions that lived in the Devonian Period in the Paleozoic Era which lasted from 416 million to 359 million years ago.
Trivia[edit | edit source]
It is unknown why that Pteryogtus's remake sprite is red instead of the artwork's green, but it is possible that ArtePiazza simply recycled the Scarlet scorpion sprite for convenience.
