Trode is a non-playable character from Square Enix's Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King, with one exception. He is the king of Trodain, and Medea's father. Both he and his daughter were cursed by Dhoulmagus as he stole the Godbird sceptre from Trodain's basement.
Trode makes cameo appearances in Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker and Dragon Quest IX.

He and Yangus have a recurring routine in which Trode will often appear out of nowhere during a scene, scaring the ex-thief witless.
Throughout the story, Trode offers wisdom and insight for the party as they travel the world, on the Battle Records menu. He also refurbishes an alchemy pot he managed to recover from Castle Trodain, as it is an important and invaluable item for crafting new items and weapons.
