'''Ortega''' was a famous Hero from [[Aliahan]] in '''''[[Dragon Warrior III]]'''''. He is shown in the intro movie fighting a dragon on top of a volcano, which ends with both of them falling in. He was the father of the legendary Hero [[Erdrick]] and when Erdrick was just a baby he left on a quest to destroy [[Baramos]]. By Erdricks 16th birthday Ortega was assumed to have failed his quest and Erdrick set out to finish it. After traveling to [[Alefgard]] Erdrick found out Ortega had also fallen to Alefgard and had lost his memory. Upon reaching the end of [[Zoma|Zoma's]] castle Erdrick witnessed Ortega's losing battle against the [[King Hydra]]. After the fight Ortega, unable to see nor hear, regains his memory and with his dying breath tells Erdrick that he is Ortega of Aliahan and asks that if he ever travels there to tell his wife and son what happened here and that he is sorry he failed.

In both remakes Ortega can be revived by reaching the top of [[Zenith Castle]] and wishing for it after defeating [[Divinegon]] within the required amount of turns.
In the original game, no contact with Ortega is ever made.  However in the remakes, Ortega speaks to the hero shortly before dying in Zoma's castle.
 
The remakes also added a helmet called Ortega's Helmet which could be obtained in [[Mour]], where Ortega spent time recuperating after near death. The helmet protects its wearer from all status ailments.

Ortega is a character in Dragon Quest III. He is the father of the hero). At the start of the game, the hero is told that Ortega died after falling into a volcano while battling a dragon. However, after reaching Alefgard, it is revealed that Ortega did not die in the volcano, but rather fell into pit leading to Alefgard. Later, the hero witnesses Ortega fighting inside Zoma's Castle. He is killed by King Hydra.
