The balhib (originally Gold Golem / GoldGolem due to display constraints; not to be confused with the golem palette swap, and Golden Golem in fan-translations) is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series. Introduced in Dragon Quest V, it is a winged, centaur-like monster armed with an axe and brilliant, gold skin.
Characteristics
Balhibs are centaur-like, having an upper torso emerging from where the neck of a quadrupedal beast would start. They have six limbs: two arms with metal wristbands and four legs armed with talons. They are winged and have a single thick tail, have purple facial hair and a flowing mane, and wield a large axe.
They are usually portrayed as powerful monsters, having many strengths granted to them. As indicated by their original names, they are apparently made of gold and will drop a very large amount of it when defeated.
Appearances
Dragon Quest V
Introduced as a monster found around the end of the game in places such as Talon Tower and Nadiria. They have a large amount of HP, can deliver strong physical attacks, and cast Kaswoosh on the player's party. The amount of gold they drop is usually worth the risk of fighting them.
