Damninui first appeared in Dragon Quest VII as one of the summons the Druid vocation could beckon in to battle using the ability That Special Summon, before later appearing in the Monsters spin off series.

Appearance and personality[edit | edit source]

Damninui is a red-skinned humanoid with four arms, a priestly hat and matching gloves, a silver cape pinned with spiked pauldrons and a high collar, and he is armed with an ornate staff.

Damninui is the most shrewd of the four spirits, eying those who approach him with suspicious until they've proven themselves to be trustworthy. Though muscular, he prefers to fight with skills and sorcery, having mastered several high ranking spells.

Appearances[edit | edit source]

Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past[edit | edit source]

A druid must reach level 40 before they may summon Damninui. Once active, he can protect the party with Forbearance and Omniheal while bombarding enemies with Boulder Toss, Pearly Gates, and Pyre o' Fire. Damninui has the highest stats of the spirits, possessing 3,000 HP, 70 MP, 390 attack, 300 defence, and 130 agility.

Dragon Quest VII Reimagined[edit | edit source]

Damninui is the third spirit summoned by a worked up druid. He casts Kazammle on an enemy.

Dragon Quest X [edit | edit source]

Damninui was added to the game in the Version 4.0 update which also added the druid vocation. He serves as the spellcaster spirit, knowing Kafrizz, Kazam, Kaswoosh, Midheal, Multiheal, and Kazing. Daminui's signature move is Deadly Detonation, a colossal fireball that weakens the spell resistance of the target and all surrounding enemies within a 5 meter range.

Daminui can only be active for 120 seconds, and no other spirit can be summoned while he is in battle even if multiple druids are in the party.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Caravan Heart[edit | edit source]

Damninui is the final spirit that Kiefer encounters, and he dwells in the ruins of Hargon's Castle. He is distrusting of the prince during their first meeting, but is coerced into handing over a key item at the behest of one of his allies. When Kiefer rescues the four spirits from the main villain, Damninui admits that he was wrong about the lad and assists him in reaching the final dungeon.

Like his fellow spirits, Damninui is an A-rank elemental monster. He naturally learns Focus Pocus, Sap, and Woosh.
