Overweening pride is the ultimate manifestation of the Luminary's vices, the final test of his courage hidden away in the depths of Drustan's labyrinth.
Appearances[edit | edit source]
Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age[edit | edit source]
Overweening pride is encountered when the player has cleared all three trials within Drustan's labyrinth and cleared two trials twice, and replace the boss of the trial currently being run through.
Etymology[edit | edit source]
Overweening Pride's Japanese name Mumyō no majin (無明の魔神) is derived from the Buddhist concept of mumyō, which is an ignorance of nirvana and of the fundamental state of existence. It is originally known in Sanskrit as Avidyā.
