The dieablo is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in Dragon Quest VIII. It is a fearsome beast that wears a mask with an evil smile over its eyes.
Characteristics
Dieablos are golden-skinned beasts similar to great apes with small pink wings on their backs, spikes on their heads, and a small pink mask bearing a wicked smile that obscures their numerous eyes. Contrary to its name and appearance, the dieablo is a member of the Beast family rather than a demon. Like their cousins, the dieablos are able to roll their eyes to unleash razor-sharp blades of wind at the entire party, the damage dependent on how many eyes are shown underneath its mask. This technique can be dangerous as the amount of damage is fixed. Thankfully, it is possible to blind the beasts by enveloping them in illusions and drastically reduce their accuracy. The dieablos covet golden items and have the chance to drop some after being defeated.
