For the club skill of the same name, see Penny Pincher (skill).

The Penny pincher is a monster in the series.

Characteristics[edit | edit source]

Penny pinchers are purple and gold slot machines that have come to life, with three red slot reels as eyes, a mouth filled with sharp fangs and a long blue tongue, and a handle on the right side of their bodies in the shape of a scepter topped with a green orb. Perched on top is a grinning horned skull with bat-like wings. They are able to float about freely or will disguise themselves as slot machines in order to ambush adventurers. Their monster description states that the penny pinchers were formerly humans that were transformed into monsters due to a desire to win big at the slots. A penny pincher is a term for someone who spends little money; one who is very cautious or frugal with their money.

In battle, penny pinchers attempt to entice adversaries by spewing forth the alluring scent of gold. They can roll their slots to unleash a variety of different effects, such as healing adventurers with a restorative rain, granting them a jackpot of gold coins, incinerating them with a gout of hellfire, or siphoning away their magic power.
