Mastering the vocation grants a weak resistance to Sizz, Frizz, Zap, Woosh, Crack, stone/strike skills, and a strong resistance to ice breath and all status ailments aside from Sap and Drain Magic. Mastering the vocation is also necessary in order to become a [[Black bishop (vocation)|Black bishop]].
