The Halberdsaurus is a recurring Monster in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in Dragon Quest X .

It is a more powerful, black-scaled variant of the Hacksaurus.

Etymology

Its Japanese name Tomahōgā is based on tomahawk, a type of single-handed axe used by various indigenous peoples of North America, while its English name is based on halberd, a two-handed pole weapon that consists of an axe blade topped with a spike mounted on a long handle that saw heavy use in medieval Europe.
