Covered in red scales with a blue underbelly, the Dread dragon is the mightiest quadruped dragon in the entire combined lands of the Erdrick trilogy. Along with despair-inducing stamina and strength, the red dragon can also cast simple magic.

The Dread dragons are found exclusively in Charlock Castle. Due to text restrictions in the Gameboy Color remake of Dragon Quest, the dread dragon was renamed RedDragon in said version.
