The Yakusou (やくそう Yakusou, first localized in English as Herb, later as Medical Herb, and most recently as Medicinal Herb) is an item found in every Dragon Warrior/Dragon Quest game; it is used to restore a small amount of a character's Hit Points. They are sold in most towns and have a similar effect to the Heal spell. Introduced as Herb in Dragon Warrior, from Dragon Warrior II and on they were localized in the main series as Medical Herb, though Eidos localized them as Herb in Dragon Warrior Monsters. When Dragon Quest VIII was released, they were localized as Medicinal Herb.
