In English his default name is '''Parry'''. In Japanese his default names are '''Cooper''' (クーパー) on the [[Super Nintendo Entertainment System|SNES]] and '''Rex''' (レックス) on the [[Nintendo DS]]. In the ''[[Dragon Quest V CD Theater|CD Theater]]'' audio drama and official novelizations, his name is '''Timmy''' (ティミー) .

Parry was born along with his twin sister in the castle town of [[Gotha]] shortly before his father was crowned king. However, their mother [[Bianca Whitaker]]/[[Nera Briscoletti]]/[[Debora Briscoletti]] was abducted by monsters and their father went missing searching for her. His nursemaid's quick thinking and hiding the twins under their parents' bed was the only thing that saved them from being abducted along with their mother. Bereft of their parents, the siblings were raised by their remaining extended family and Sancho. Eight years later, he along with his sister and [[Sancho]] finally located their petrified father and restored him to life. With him recuperated, the twins journeyed with their father in search of their missing mother for another two years.
