Perilwinkle is a monster in both Dragon Quest IV and Dragon Quest VII.
Characteristics
Hard shelled hellions that smash into enemies by rolling repeatedly to build up enough momentum. They practice this in dark, dank dungeons, giving them extra skill with where they strike. They've been known to fling themselves with such a forceful body slam that it even cracks their own shell.

Etymology
A periwinkle is the common name for members of the mollusc family. It is also a paler color of indigo. Both of these describe the perilwinkle aptly.
