The Dark Shield is a recurring shield in the Dragon Quest series.

Appearances

Dragon Quest V

The dark shield has a defence bonus of +37, but can only be equipped by certain monster companions. It can be sold for 4,900 gold.

Dragon Quest IX

Dark shields cannot be bought, but they can be sold for 8,600 gold. It has a defense bonus of +30, a blocking chance of five percent, and a two star rarity. It also increases defense against fire and ice attacks when equipped. They are common drops from Night knights and rare drops from Fright knights. Its in game description is "A jet-black shield that guards against fire- and ice-based attacks."
