Lleviathan is an immense cetecean with navy blue skin, a pale red underside, and solid yellow eyes. He has a pair of wings on each side and a fin that runs down his tail, both with dark purple membrane, and horns jutting out all over his body. He uses his wings to swim through the air. In battle, Llevithan can call forth tidal waves using his power over the sea and uses his large tail in sweeping attacks.
Lleviathan is the name of a sea deity that is worshipped by the people of Porth Llaffan. He is encountered as a boss twice during the story. The first one encountered by the Hero is actually Jona Jones, transformed using the power of a Fygg.

The real Lleviathan is encountered in the postgame during Quest #39: Follow That Fish!. The Hero returns to Porth Llaffan to visit Jona, who thinks that the mysterious shadow she saw in the sea is the actual Lleviathan himself. She asks for the hero's help in summoning him. Equip a party member with a Watermaul wand, a Flowing dress, and a Silver shield, then head to the Cuddiedig Cliff where Llevithan was previous encountered. Jona performs the ritual and the deity appears, challenging the hero to a battle.

The people of Porth Llaffan worshipped this watery deity, which was really Dylan Jones in fygg-changed form.
He once swam with countless companions in the seas around Newid Isle, but Llveiathan is now sadly the last of his kind.
After the battle, Lleviathan will give Jona the fisherman's talisman that belonged to her father and also coughs up a Fygg. After acquiring the Fygg, the Hero will be able to see Stella once again and gains the ability to fly throughout the world using Sterling's whistle.
Lleviathan appears as an A-rank monster of the Nature family as part of the original Dragon Quest IX event. He will join the party in Chapter 4, Episode 1 of the event quests entitled Lt Goreham-Hogg and he stars in his own Battle Road. Lleviathan can be fully awakened by completing the Fantastical Fish Hunt of "Move out! Exploration Team Majellan" at any difficulty.

Lleviathan's Japanese name is Nushi-sama (ぬしさま), where ぬし(nushi) means "the Lord" or "god" and さま(sama) is a suffix used for courteous addressing. This is because Lleviathan is worshiped by the inhabitants of Porth Llaffan as the God of Sea.
The double L in its name is the Welsh Ll sound, owing to the Welsh dialect found in Porth Llaffan.
Lleviathan is a reference to the Leviathan, a sea monster mentioned in the Jewish Tanakh and Christian Bible. It appears as a metaphor in the Book of Job and as the creature that swallows up Jonah in the titular book, which is played out when Lleviathan swallows Jona Jones before the Hero engages the creature in battle.
