Mystvearn, originally known simply as Myst, is a major character and antagonist in Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai. He is a mysterious being who is the most devoted follower of the Dark King Vearn. Mystvearn serves as the commander of the Shadow Legion, a group of monsters that lack physical bodies, such as Shadows and Miasmas.

Appearance

Mystvearn commonly takes on the appearance of shadowy, wraith-like being covered by the Shadow Raiment, a long white robe trailing along the ground that disguises his true appearance. A pair of eyes can be seen glowing from the darkness of his hood. He wears a set of metallic gauntlets and sabatons, although his limbs are completely obscured from view. A glowing orb can be seen inside of his robes where his chest would be located. His robe has a high collar and he wears a pointed red pelerine over his shoulders featuring a design of Dark King Vearn on the back. Both the ends of his sleeves and the hem of his robe feature a repeating design similar to the Roman numeral I or a capitalized iota. His robe is held together with a large golden necklace decorated with red jewels and he has a golden tippet hanging from his shoulders which reaches down to the tops of his sabatons.

Dragon Quest of the Stars

Mystvearn appears as a boss in the collaboration events in the Japanese version of the game. The player can also acquire pieces of equipment in order to dress like Mystvearn.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Super Light

Mystvearn appears as a boss in a collaboration event with The Adventure of Dai. He can also be acquired by the player as an SS-rank member of the ??? family.

Dragon Quest Walk

Mystvearn appeared in the game during the second limited The Adventure of Dai event held in the game from December 26th, 2022 to January 24th, 2023. He can be faced as a special mega boss with other players. Mystvearn can act up to three times per turn, can cast Kaboom, and attacks using his Dark Puppetry Aura Hand, Dark Aura Decimation Field, and Byut Deathstringer.

Dragon Quest Tact

Mystvearn appears as an S-rank member of the ??? family as part of the limited The Second Adventure of Dai event, where he can be recruited during the event's story. He will join the player in Chapter 5 Episode 5: The Unlikely Savior of the event quests and he can be fully awakened by collecting Mystvearn Crystals from completing various challenges, as well as purchasing some of them from the Bond Decoration Swap Shop. He is faced as a boss in Chapter 2, Episode 3: Master of Darkness Against His Pupil, as well as in the Large Battle of the Six Legions of the Dark Lord. Mystvearn also stars in his own Battle Road.
