The Ragged reaper is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in Dragon Quest IX. It is a creepy, white scarecrow stuffed with sticks and holding a scythe almost as large as it is.

Characteristics edit

Ragged reapers are scarecrow monsters made from straw stuffed into white cloth sacks, with cords serving as their limbs, tears on their heads roughly in the shape of a smiling face. In their right hands, they carry sharp scythes that are much taller than themselves. According to their monster description, the ragged reapers are said to have nicked them from Mean spirits, which gives them an immunity to instant death spells. The reapers can be typically found in wheat fields looking for unsuspecting victims to turn into fertiliser for crops.

Description		Their scythes, robbed from real reapers, ward off Whack, and they can upset enemies with Weird Dance and Snooze. They take out travellers and fellow fiends to use as fertiliser for fields that have fallen fallow.

Trivia edit

The ragged reaper's Japanese name Kamacchi (かまっち) comes from a combination of "kama" (かま), the Japanese word for sickle or scythe and "-chi" (っち), a cutesy suffix added to the end of names that is used amongst young friends, similar to the suffix "-chan".
