Stark ravens are corvids with dark blue plumage perched ominously on top of skulls, likely belonging to some unlucky adventurer. They attack by grasping the skulls in their feet and dropping it on enemies. These birds are encountered early in the adventure and do not pose much of a threat, except in Dragon Quest X, since they are first encountered in the Netherworld.
Colossal crows that mate with their corvidesque companions for life. When presented with a potential partner, the pair exchange skulls in place of wedding vows.
Stark ravens make their first reappearance in the main series before XI retroactively and are strengthened a bit, being encountered at the start of Version 5. They can perform a War Cry and attack with Skeletoss or spewing forth blazing fire.
These creepy corvids can't resist scooping up skulls from ancient battlefields. Fledgling ravens like to clamber through the eye-holes to hide from predators.
Stark raven appears as a F-rank monster of the Nature family during the Dragon Quest III event. It can be recruited from Chapter 1, Episode 1: A New World and Chapter 1, Episode 2: Patty's Pub of the event quests at any difficulty and it can participate in both Armful and Dora-in-Grey's Battle Roads as a party member. Stark raven can also be recruited from the story Chapter 16, Episode 1: The Platinum Cup Wrapup.

Stark raven's name comes from the phrase "stark raving mad", which means completely and wildly insane. It's older localized name of "Black Raven" also references Edgar Allen Poe's "The Raven".
