Zombie mail
The zombie mail is a recurring suit of armor in the Dragon Quest series. It is a mid-level piece of armour in every appearance, but it is a cursed item in its debut as well as the eighth game. The armour did a complete about-face when resurrected for the eleventh game, now protecting against being cursed in battle.

Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen edit
The zombie mail has a defence bonus of +49... but it reduces the wearer's HP by 1 per step when walking outside of battle. In the original NES version, the wearer's HP would decrease until it reaches 0, but in remake version, the wearer's HP will stop at 1. It can be equipped by the Hero, Ragnar, and Psaro. Psaro joins the party with it equipped, as he can use cursed equipment without penalty.
Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride edit
The zombie mail has a defence bonus of +38. It is not cursed, but can only be equipped by certain monster companions, and is found in Knightmare Towers. It is dropped by Poltarrrgeists at a rate of 1/32.
Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King edit
The zombie mail has a defence bonus of +42 and can be equipped by Angelo in all versions and by Morrie in the Nintendo 3DS port. One set can be found on the island in the northwest where the Dark Ruins are located. It can be purified in the Alchemy Pot into a Platinum mail with the use of Saint's ashes. Zombie mail can also be made in the Alchemy Pot, and are also Dark dullahans at a 1/256 rate.
