The Scare root (formerly Mandrake and Mandora) is a recurrent monster in the Dragon Quest series and it was introduced in Dragon Quest VI.

Characteristics

Scare roots are plant-like monsters, specifically the taproots of carrots. Their bodies are brown except the budding stalk that contains the eye, which is fuchsia. Their arms and legs are made of some lesser roots and tendrils, as is common among plant monsters, and they sport some stubby incisors in their silly grins.

Variants

Wild carrot

Due to a programming oversight, the wild carrot is vulnerable to Flying Knee despite having no capability for flight at all. This humorous oddity was retained for the DS and Mobile versions.
