The Slugger is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in Dragon Quest VI. It is a bizarre bug monster known for its dancing abilities.
Characteristics
Sluggers are unusual, pink-skinned creatures with an appearance similar to that of an anthropomorphic flea or other type of bug. They are more known for dancing in battle rather than being genuine threats, hopping back and forth constantly and trying to get adventurers into the groove with their jigs. The sluggers also have the ability to raise the spirits of their fellow monsters in battle with their dance performances.

Trivia
- The slugger's Japanese name Tentsuku (テンツク) is based on the word tentsukuten (てんつくてん), an onomatopoeia of taiko drums being played at a festival, relating to the monster's dancing abilities.
