Cautery sword
The cautery sword, also known as destruct sword and originally the sword of malice, is a recurring sword in the Dragon Quest series. If used as a tool in battle, it casts Sizz on enemies.

The cautery sword has an attack bonus of +45. It can be equipped by the Hero, Ragnar, Torneko, and Psaro.
Dragon Quest V
The cautery sword has an attack bonus of +45. It can be purchased in Mostroferrato, Stockenbarrel, Helmunaptra, and Battenberg for 4,400 gold. The Hero and his son can equip it.
Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation
The cautery sword has an attack bonus of +42 and a style bonus of +23. When used as an item, it casts Sizz. It can be bought for 4,400 gold in Alltrades Abbey, Ghent, and Scrimsley, or sold for 3,300 gold. The Hero, Milly, Amos, Terry, Lizzie, and Goowain can equip it.
Dragon Quest VII
The cautery sword has an attack bonus of +42 and a style of +23. It can be purchased in various shops for 5,400 gold and can be equipped by the Hero, Sir Mervyn, and Aishe.
Dragon Quest IX
The cautery sword can be upgraded to an aurora blade by the use of Alchemy.
