Shogum is a diminutive humanoid knight riding on top of a giant red Slime, both possessing bushy white beards. The slime has a knight's visor on top of its head and a short black cape that flows from its back. The knight wears black clothing with a set of dark blue and gold armor, a long red cape, and a blue and green crown on his head. He dual wields a pair of large broadswords that are bigger than himself.
A slime so saturated with fighting spirit, that its body has turned from blue to red. Doesn't know the meaning of defeat. Master of the slime armies, he searches ceaselessly for his nine long-lost companions.
Shogum appears as a boss in the Magic Labyrinth in Version 3.4.3. This time around, he is able to call for help from a King slime and Queen slime along with his ability to call for King cureslimes as backup.
This slime army commander is said to have pioneered the paired sword school of combat. It searches ceaselessly for its nine missing companions, who once assembled will unleash their utter devastation on the world
Shogum appears as an A-rank monster of the Slime family, appearing on Barbatos's banner. He is faced as a boss in Chapter 5, Episode 9: The Dark Hand of Elegia in the second part of the main storyline.
The shogum is in fact one of the ten pieces of the destroyed god Zenus of Dragon Quest IX, which is alluded to by his searching for nine "companions" in several of his in-game descriptions. These companions are the other bodies parts of Zenus that are found in the grottoes of Dragon Quest IX, being the bosses of said grottoes with the exception of the bosses Tyrannosaurus Wrecks and Greygnarl, who are not related to the body parts of Zenus whatsoever.
