Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation edit
At one point during his journey, a wounded Ortega was found unconscious outside of Mur by a boy named Petya. While recovering in the town, Ortega (or "Peredvizhnik" as the locals dubbed him) made friends with inhabitants, and Petya in particular. After he recovered, he left his helmet with Petya as a token of his gratitude. In the years that followed, "Peredvizhnik" was fondly remembered by the town, and a song was written commemorating Petya's rescue of him. His helm was proudly displayed and polished to a sheen.
Years later, the Hero's own journey takes them to Mur. Due to their close resemblance to their father, the villagers initially mistake them as Ortega, and are overjoyed that "Peredvizhnik" has returned to pay a visit. When they realize the Hero is not Ortega, but his child, they give them a warm welcome and share stories of Ortega. Petya gives Ortega's Helm to the Hero, believing it belongs with them.

Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake edit
Mur is now shown to be a coastal village with a large warf, and can be properly docked at if entered from the sea. The incident of Ortega saving Petya's life is now depicted as a cutscene: a legion of monsters laid siege to the village while Petya and a merchant lagged behind the other fleeing citizens, with the merchant staying behind to shield the boy from a fatal blow. Ortega kills the monster before it can attack, however, and the villagers witness him fight off the entire horde despite his wounds. Ortega would depart the village soon after recovering to resume his journey, but not before leaving Petya his helmet as a keepsake due to reminding him of his own child he left behind in Aliahan, and being too damaged to risk relying upon it for protection in future battles.
Petya, now depicted as a young man in the present unlike past versions of the game, regales the story to the Hero upon hearing that the party is also from Aliahan and asks that the Hero encourage Ortega to return to Mur should they ever encounter. The merchant whom Ortega saved heard the story and asks the Hero take Ortega's helmet and deliver it to him should they meet, having spent many years restoring the head gear to its former glory after it was damaged during Ortega's journey.
Interestingly, the people of Mur do not realize that the Hero is Ortega's child in this game nor do they refer to Ortega as anything but Peredvizhnik. The merchant Ortega saved comes the closest, remarking that Ortega left behind a wife and child in Aliahan and that the youth should be close to the Hero's age.
