The Tantamount is a monster in the series.
Tantamounts are equine monsters based on the Kirin (麒麟) of Japanese mythology, having the features of both a horse and a dragon. It has a golden mane, red hair like flames on its legs and tail, a reddish-brown underside and legs, and black scales that cover most of its body. It gallops in midair and has flaming hooves. The tantamount also has solid white eyes and teal on both its head and flank. It can attack by calling powerful bolts of lightning or fierce flames. The steeds are said to hail from purgatory, a region somewhere between heaven and hell.

Some believe that the moon's craters are made by tantamounts' flaming manes as they gallop across the night sky.

Tantamount can be faced as one of the rare bosses in the Magic Labyrinth. It is able to cast Frizzle, breathe out fierce flames and emit a Whinny, as well as unleash Lightning Storm when they become enraged.
