Etymology
- The monster's Japanese name, Kumuyaga, is the transliteration of the invented name Quumyagga, which refers to the chief of the shantaks in author Lin Carter's short story Descent into the Abyss. This work of fiction is a part of author H.P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos and is a spin on the Crowgre's Japanese name.
