Fly-by-knight
The Fly-by-knight (formerly ShadeNite) is a monster in the game Dragon Quest VII. It can be found in Mount Probina in the past and Loomin Cave. It is also one of the forms a mega egger will become when hatched.

Characteristics
Ghostly, ghastly, sneaky shadow knights that live in the dark, slicing any enemy that intrudes with their spinning sabres. Even though they're barely there, their green eyes and red maw shine from their shadowy incorporial form. Upon defeat they simply fade out of existence.
Etymology
Fly by night is an antiquated term that describes a person as being untrustworthy, especially in financial matters.
