The Gloomnivore is a despair-devouring monster introduced in the eleventh game. It bears the bestial shape as the Franticore family, but possesses the ability to speak.
Appearances
The Gloomnivore is encountered in the second act of the game in the depths of the Dundrasil ruins, where is feasts on the misery of the late King Irwin. It explains that it feeds on the negative emotions of humans, and that the tragedies Irwin has suffered during Mordegon's assault on Dundrasil has left him overflowing with anguish, allowing it to eat for sixteen years. Rab is enraged at the beast for treating his son-in-law like such, and leads the fight against it.
The monster is encountered in the same place during the third act, but has received a substantial power boost thanks to the awakening of Calasmos.
