The Polehammer is a weapon from Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai. One end of the metal pole is a spear shaped like a large arrowhead, and on the other end is a hammer shaped like a round weight with three spikes protruding from the tip and on the left and right sides. By switching between the upper and lower ends, it can be used for both striking and piercing purposes.

Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai

Maam's favorite polearm bears a cross design. Most priests could not wield such a heavy weapon, but Maam's warrior heritage allows her to swing it with ease. When Maam decided to switch from being a Warrior-Priest to a Martial Artist, she likewise retired the Polehammer.

During the prequel, Maam's mother, Leira, also used the Polehammer during her time in Avan's party, at least in the occasions where she did not use her magic baton or her Thief's gear.

Dragon Quest Walk

The polehammer reappears as one of the game's staves. It is a 5-star weapon in the Pop Maam equipment gacha during the Adventure of Dai collaboration event at the end of November 2020. It is not classified as a spear or a hammer, but a club due to the fact that the hammer was not implemented into the game at the time. The weapon starts with the Party Pooper skill, but can learn Snooze Shot at Lv 10, Kasizz Shot at Lv 15, Slap at Lv 20, and Midheal Shot at Lv 30.

Trivia

Despite having a spearhead, the prequel reveals that in truth the tip is blunt as well, in order to keep with the rule that Priests may not wield bladed weapons.
