Characteristics edit
This ability typically deals more damage than a normal attack to a single group of enemies. In its original appearance, it was an upgraded version of Whiplash and had a chance of paralysing the enemies struck by it. Starting with Dragon Quest IX, it began dealing extra damage to monsters of the Humanoid family. In the HD-2D Remake games, Lashings of Love can be performed with any weapon equipped.

Lashings of Love costs 5 MP to use and damages a single group of enemies. The damage decreases from left-to-right, starting at 120%, then 105%, 90%, 70%, 50%, then 40% of damage as a normal attack and does not decrease further. It inflicts approximately 50% extra damage to humanoid-type monsters. The ability is learned by the Princess of Moonbrooke at level 22. It can be used with any weapon equipped.
- When the Princess of Moonbrooke is at HP is below 50% or she is under the effects of Wild Side, the Souped-Up Skill Pink Typhoon becomes available to use. The player must have the Soul Sigil in their possession to use it.
Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake edit
Lashings of Love costs 5 MP to use and targets a single group of enemies, dealing physical-type damage. The damage decreases from left-to-right, starting at 100%, then 80%, 70%, 50%, 30%, then 20% and does not decrease any further. It inflicts an extra 30% damage to humanoid-type monsters. The ability can be learned by a Monster Wrangler upon recruiting 30 monsters. It can be used with any weapon equipped.
Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King edit
Lashings of Love costs 4 MP to use, deals 30% more damage than a normal attack to a single group of enemies, and has a 25% chance of paralysing them for 5~8 turns. Jessica can learn it by investing 55 skill points into her Whip skill, upgrading from the Whiplash skill.

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies edit
Lashings of Love costs no MP to use and targets a single group of enemies, dealing 50% more damage to monsters of the Humanoid family. It can be learned by investing 7 skill points into the Whip skill.

Dragon Quest X edit
Lashings of Love costs 1 MP to use and damages any enemies in a fan-shaped area of effect in front of the user. Any targets that belong to the Humanoid family take an extra 50% damage + 5. The user lets out a loud laugh before performing the attack. It can be learned by a Mage, Thief, Luminary, and Monster Wrangler by allocating 13 skill points into their Whip skill, while a Fortune Teller can learn it by allocating 160 skill points into their Whip skill.
Dragon Quest X Offline edit
Lashings of Love costs 2 MP to use and deals 20% extra damage than a normal attack to a single enemy, with Humanoids taking 50% extra damage + 5. It can be learned by the Hero as a Mage, Thief, or Luminary for 2 skill points, and Duston for 3 skill points through the Whips panel in their Character Builders respectively. The damage multiplier to Humanoid monsters can be increased further with Skill-Up Panels in the Character Builder.

Lashings of Love costs 2 MP to use and deals the same amount of damage as a normal attack to a single group of enemies. If any targets belong to the Humanoid family, it deals 50% extra damage + 5. It can be learned by Veronica for 6 skill points and by Sylvando for 7 skill points through the Whips panel in their Character Builders respectively. Much like in Dragon Quest X, the user will let out a laugh before performing the attack.
- In the 3DS version, Lashings of Love acts the same as the PS4 and Steam versions, but it strikes twice in a row. In the Definitive Edition, it will still attack twice in 2D mode, but it acts the same way as before in 3D mode.
