The Badger mager is a recurring monster in the series, first appearing in Dragon Quest IX. It is a novice spellcasting monster based on the Tanuki of Japanese mythology.

Characteristics edit

The badger mager is a mammalian apprentice mage wielding a large autumn leaf that doubles as a spell-casting tool and surprisingly reliable weapon. While only a novice in the blustery arcane arts, the badger mager can be a threat in the early stages of the game if called forth by a leafy larrikin.
