The Wonder wyrtle is a monster in the series.

Characteristics edit

Wonder wyrtles are dragon turtles, nearly identical to their wyrtle relatives, now having a golden colour scheme. When it first appeared in Dragon Quest IX, it had a dark orange-gold shell and scales, with a lighter yellow underside and horns, and a teal tongue. Starting with Dragon Quest X, the wonder wyrtle's scales and shell were changed closer to a yellow gold, with its underside and horns still a lighter shade of gold, and the fins on the side of its head became dark grey. According to its monster description in X, the wonder wyrtle is a rare mutant that is born among wyrtoises. It can call down powerful bolts of lightning or breathe out blazing fire from its maw.

Description These reptilian regents can bring down bolts of lightning and exhale gouts of flame, but aren't wild about water or darkness.

Supposedly, when wyrtles' souls depart their bodies, they are absorbed by wonder wyrtles, and earn eternal life.

Dragon Quest X edit

Wonder wyrtle began appearing in Version 3.1 as the rarefied form of Wyrtoise. It is able to land desperate attacks, cast Oomph, perform a flamethrower attack or unleash Apocalyptic Lightning. Oddly enough, the wonder wyrtle will actually flee from battle if it becomes enraged.
