The Apeckalypse is a monster in the series.
Characteristics[edit | edit source]
Apeckalypses are large flightless birds with purple plumage and serpentine features that live in mountainous regions. Their diet consists of poisonous plants, which gives them the ability to envenomate their opponents with either their deadly tails or by spitting out toxins. Their name is a combination of the words "apocalypse" and "peck".
Appearances[edit | edit source]
Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies[edit | edit source]
- Apeckalypses must be defeated during Quest #77: Cool-Fanned Kook until one of them drops a freezing feather for Fanny, a teacher at Swinedimples Academy.
Dragon Quest X [edit | edit source]
Apeckalypse appeared from the beginning of the game. They are still able to perform a War Cry and have the ability to spit out a venomous fluid when they become enraged. They can be encountered in the Peckerel Mountains, an area mentioned in the apeckalypse's description in the previous game.

Trivia[edit | edit source]
- The apeckalypse's Japanese name ランドンクイナ (Randon kuina, ランドンクイナ?) references the rail, known in Japanese as kuina, which are small, nearly flightless birds. Rails are known for their harsh cries.
