The invisible swordsman is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in Dragon Quest VIII. It is a phantom swordsman that has been granted great power by a demonic god.

Characteristics edit

The appearance of an invisible swordsman is that of a disembodied indigo blue cape that holds a silver longswords on its left side. According to its bestiary description in VIII, the swordsmen are former knights that sacrificed their bodies to Rhapthorne, the Lord of Darkness, in exchange for power. Much like its demonic master, they are able to call upon the anger of gods and drop down meteors from the sky onto their opponents. After battle, the invisible swordsmen are able to drop their ragged capes and rusty swords for adventurers to use.

Dragon Quest X edit

Invisible swordsmen appeared from Version 1.0 of the game. Although they have lost the ability to call upon the anger of the gods, they are now capable of placing curses with their slashes, using Falcon Slash, calling forth Lightning, and empowering themselves with Gale Fource.
